A quick look around the plot and something is eating my parsnips and strawberries.
The risk of frost will have passed and so if you’ve yet to plant out those tender plants, now is the time to do it. There is still plenty to do on the plot but with the extra daylight available, you should have plenty of time to get on top of things. Continue reading
In this video, I show you my leek barrier that I’ve put up to try and stop the wind damaging my leeks. I dig over the potato beds ready for spring and I also find a few hidden gems in the strawberry bed.
The weather recently has been hot and I mean hot. Although I’ve been down the allotment, most of the jobs are on hold because of the heat. The only thing I can do is water and harvest as crops become available, and boy I’ve had some good harvests!
If you read my previous post, you will have seen I went overboard with the radish in the square foot bed. Well this weekend, I started to harvest them and in the process pulled up some rather large but tasty roots out. Most where an inch across, while some measured around 3 inches. The one below was one of the larger ones.
