You may remember in my last post I mentioned I was planning on building some raised beds. I mentioned this to my dad the other week and not only did he get a load of wood to build them, he actually went down the plot one of the days last week and built them for me. He didn’t tell me he had done this so when I went down there last Friday after work to do some watering, I was in for a surprise. They are roughly two scaffold boards in height which is perfect as I no longer need to get down on my knees to weed between plants. Hopefully they will also improve the drainage and help with germination when sowing direct.

On Sunday I, with the help of my girlfriend, spent around an hour and half filling up one of the raised beds with manure, compost and lots of organic matter. The other bed will be done this weekend as the weather didn’t look too promising on Sunday and we had some other jobs we had to get on with.
